Galaxy and FAMIS Access

NYCPS Office of Nonpublic and Charter Schools Portal

(VPN access for myGalaxy, FAMIS, & Rocket Terminal External)

Due to a security breach, a new protocol was implemented earlier this year that requires users to access myGalaxy ** and FAMIS ** from a DOE network. There are two ways you can access myGalaxy, FAMIS, & Rocket Terminal External:

  1. On a DOE/ATS-networked computer
  2. Via the Office of Nonpublic and Charter School VPN Portal

  • New staff (e.g., anyone added to Galaxy TO after March 7, 2026) will need to complete this brief survey to be provisioned access. Access should be granted within 5 – 7 school days. Long URL: https://forms.gle/Cbkfy7yyAd1iT7jG7
  • Thereafter, sign into myGalaxy using your DOE email address (@schools.nyc.gov) and/or sign into FAMIS using your FAMIS credentials.
    • Note – users will need to have separate access to MyGalaxy and FAMIS to access those systems. For more information how to get access to those systems, see:

What to expect when you sign in:

After you enter your login information, you will see a dashboard with access to FAMIS Prd, Rocket Terminal External, or myGalaxy. Click the link to access each system. Note that it may not work properly within an incognito browser. If you continue to receive the DOE network error after completing these steps, close your browser, clear your cache, and begin a new Chrome session.

You may be routed to the general DOE sign-in page as an interim step if you have not recently logged into a DOE application. The Rocket Terminal Emulator (RTE) for External Users is still available to access ATS; the portal is simply an additional method for accessing ATS.
